FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Port of Walla Walla will hold a public meeting in the Rotunda at the Water & Environmental Center located on the Walla Walla Community College campus on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., to present and discuss its proposed Master Plan update for the Walla Walla Regional Airport.

The Port initiated the Master Plan update approximately one year ago to address proposed airport
development needs for a 20-year period. Since that time it has completed aviation forecasts, identified the need for additional aviation facilities, and prepared site development alternatives to meet anticipated facility needs. Preliminary alternatives were presented during a public meeting held in April 2016.

“The Planning Advisory Committee, staff and commissioners have worked hard over the past year”, says Jennifer Skoglund, Airport Manager. “We’ve identified development alternatives to address our future airport needs. We presented preliminary alternatives to the public last April and considered the input we received. Now it’s time to present our more refined Master Plan alternatives to the community for additional input and to make sure that our plan is aligned with our community’s vision for our airport.”

The meeting will be held using an “open house” format, with members of the Port staff and its consultant team available to discuss the proposed master plan. Interested community members are invited to stop in any time during the two-hour open house.

The Water & Environmental Center is located on Water Center Drive on the Walla Walla Community College Campus. For more information, call Jennifer Skoglund, Airport Manager, at (509) 525-3100, or visit the airport’s master plan webpage at: http://alwmasterplan.com/
